TVPlayer.io ("we", "us", "our") is a media player only. We do not provide, host, sell, or advertise TV channels, IPTV subscriptions, playlists, movies, series, sports, or any content. You bring your own legally obtained playlist. This policy explains what personal data we process when you use the TVPlayer.io app and website, why we process it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have.
1. Who we are
TVPlayer.io operates the TVPlayer.io app for Android TV and Amazon Fire TV and the website at tvplayer.io. For any privacy question you can reach us through our support page.
2. Information we collect
- Device identifiers — a Device ID and PIN generated by the app to identify your TV, plus app version and platform (Android TV / Fire TV).
- Playlist details you provide — the M3U/M3U8 URL or Xtream server, username and password you enter, an optional EPG/XMLTV URL, and a playlist name. We store these so we can deliver them to your activated device.
- Contact details you provide — an optional email address and name, used for setup instructions, activation receipts and support replies.
- Support content — the subject and message of any support ticket you open.
- Licence & payment status — your trial and activation status and a payment reference from Stripe or PayPal. We do not store full card numbers.
- Approximate location for weather — the app may use your approximate IP-based location to show local weather. This can be disabled in the app settings.
- Technical logs — standard server logs (such as IP address, timestamp and request) needed to run the service securely and prevent abuse.
3. What we do not collect or do
- We do not provide, host or inspect the content of your playlist — it is delivered to your own device and is your responsibility.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not store full payment card details; those are handled by our payment processors.
- We do not build advertising profiles or share your data with advertisers.
4. How we use your information
- To create and identify your device, run the 7-day free trial, and activate a one-time device licence.
- To save your playlist and deliver it to your activated device.
- To send setup instructions, activation receipts and support replies (when you provide an email).
- To show local weather (when enabled).
- To keep the service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet our legal obligations.
5. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process your data to perform our contract with you (activation, playlist delivery, support), for our legitimate interests (securing the service, preventing abuse), to comply with legal obligations, and with your consent where required (for example, optional location-based weather, which you can turn off).
6. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal. When you pay, you provide your payment details directly to them under their own privacy policies. We receive only the payment status and a reference so we can activate your device.
7. Third-party services
- Stripe and PayPal — payment processing.
- OpenSubtitles — used only if you choose to sign in to search and download subtitles; your OpenSubtitles credentials are used to talk to their service under their terms.
- Email delivery (SMTP) — to send receipts, instructions and support replies when you provide an email.
- IP-based weather — approximate location lookup to display local weather, when enabled.
8. Cookies & local storage
The website uses your browser's local storage to remember your Device ID between pages (so you don't re-enter it) and to keep you signed in to the reseller or admin areas. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
9. Data retention
We keep your device, playlist and licence data for as long as your device is active or on trial, and as needed for support, records and legal reasons. You can delete your saved playlist at any time from the Add Playlist page, and you can ask us to delete your device data through support.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us through the support page with your Device ID so we can locate your records. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Children
TVPlayer.io is not directed at children and is not intended for use by children under 16. The app includes parental controls (PIN lock and group hiding) that you can configure per device.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including hashed passwords for reseller/admin accounts and token-based access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Keep your Device ID and PIN private, and do not share your playlist credentials.
13. International transfers
Your data may be processed on servers or by service providers located in other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. Material changes will be reflected here.
